I can't believe this weather. When I left the house yesterday, it was a balmy 40 degrees out. When I got off work, it was a blizzard. Spine tingling winds and a bunch of snow. I'd never seen weather change so drastically ever. From the time I got on the train by the time I got off, it had snowed a couple of inches. A lot of the snow melted today, but it's barely above freezing. I can't wait for spring. Remind me to move somewhere warmer.
Last week I had such an awful week I kept thinking something good should come of it. And today, something good did happened. I went into Time Out to write my weekly music listings. The Managing Editor took me aside and told me they're gonna start paying me a little. One of the music editors is leaving so I'll be filling in until they find a replacement. I couldn't believe they mentioned the word "pay." It's not much but it's a start. I hope it'll lead to other opportunities. I've been there since August and it's finally paying off (literally). I'm glad I've stuck it out this long and been so proactive about things. I'm still going to need supplemental income somehow. I have some freelancing money coming my way but who knows when I'll get that. And I'm still doing paid marketing stuff once in a while. It'd be nice to afford things. I've been so dirt poor it isn't funny. Anyway, I'm excited about my new gig. I'm not excited about listening to shitty death metal bands and writing blurbs on them. Oh well. I'm really glad I got fired last week. I wouldn't be able to do this if it weren't for that.
I think I'm getting sick again. I can feel it. Damn weather. I don't really have much going on this weekend except for a show on Friday and then maybe some open bar stuff on Saturday. And I'm sure they'll be some boy drama, as usual. Next week is jam-packed. I'm already going to three shows and probably at least 2-3 parties next weekend. I'm glad January is almost over. This has been the longest month ever. Hopefully February will be better. Slowly but surely I hope things come together. I really need them to.
